THE WAY GOLF BEGAN.
The Village at Machrihanish Dunes, consisting of Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club, The Ugadale Hotel & Cottages, The Old Clubhouse Pub & Restaurant and The Royal Hotel in nearby Campbeltown, provides visitors with a golf destination rivaling the best in the world.
Opened in July 2009, Machrihanish Dunes has already been heralded by many of the golf industry’s top publications and writers, having been called, “A Future Classic," "The World’s Most Natural Golf Course” and "Golf’s Ultimate Back-to-the-Future Course."
Designed by David McLay Kidd, Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club is the first golf course to have been built on a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSi) since the days of “Old Tom” Morris himself. It is also the first 18-hole links course to be built on the west coast of Scotland in 100 years. Set hard against the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Machrihanish Dunes shares breathtaking views with the adjacent Machrihanish Golf Club links (ranked 39th by Golf Digest’s “Top 100 Courses Outside the U.S.”). Measuring 7,175 yards, Machrihanish Dunes features six greens and five tees at the ocean's edge.
Machrihanish Dunes promises to be the world’s next great golf experience, beckoning those with a deep passion and true respect for the roots of the game. Naturally born of the land, yet molded to extract its most superb attributes, this spectacular creation instantly takes your breath away with both its majestic beauty and its prolific challenges. Machrihanish Dunes is a vast and wondrous links land that is centuries old and will be enjoyed for centuries to come.
